How Fabric Goes from a Sample to Bulk Production

First analyze the construction, hand feel, weight, and other aspects based on the original sample, then confirm the quality sample. Next, advance color samples and meter samples together through a trial order to make a Proto, turn the counter sample into an SMS to test the market, and only after the order is confirmed do we adjust the greige fabric and dye it for bulk production.

How Fabric Goes from a Sample to Bulk Production

From Sample to Bulk Production: How Your Piece of Fabric Becomes an Order, Step by Step

When a fabric sample arrives, it is often just the beginning of a partnership. After that, we still need to confirm quality, match colors, make it into garments, and then take it to the market to see how it is received. Each step helps you see one thing clearly first, and then decide whether to invest in the next step. That way, by the time you reach bulk production, the fabric, colors, and finished garments are all settled.

Your original sample is the benchmark for every judgment that follows

Please send us the original sample. This piece of fabric represents the direction you want: construction, hand feel, weight, width, yarn count, and what kind of garments it is suitable for.

We will analyze it item by item against the original sample to see how it is woven, where the hand feel comes from, and what range the quality should fall into. You do not need to write all the details into a specification sheet first. As long as the sample is here, the standard is here. The quality sample, meter sample, and colors that follow will all be checked back against this piece of fabric.

Quality sample: first confirm that this fabric can be made to your requirements

After analysis, we provide a quality sample. Please focus on three things: whether the hand feel is close to the original sample, whether the fabric surface and quality meet your requirements, and whether this direction is worth continuing to develop.

Confirmation of the quality sample means the fabric type and quality direction are established. Colors, garments, and bulk production are all built on this confirmation. If you go ahead and develop many colors and make many garments before the quality is settled, then once the fabric needs to be changed later, the colors and patterns will all have to be redone. Settle the quality first, so that the time and cost that follow are spent on the right fabric.

Trial order: look at color samples and Proto together

After quality is confirmed, many customers will first place a trial order. A trial order is already a real order, used to truly move this fabric forward into colors and garments.

At this step, two things usually proceed together.

You arrange color samples. Color samples are used to confirm whether the color can meet your standard, and also make it convenient for you to select and adjust colors internally. If you have any comments, raise them, and we will adjust according to your feedback until the color is ready to move to the next step.

At the same time, you can ask us to provide meter samples for making a Proto. Meter samples need to be made up into garments before you can see whether this fabric is suitable for your styles: drape, thickness, stretch, and fit cannot be fully judged when it is just lying flat in your hand. Color samples solve "is the color right," while Proto solves "does the garment turn out well." With both advancing at the same time, you can make judgments together.

Turn the counter sample into an SMS and take it to test the market

After the comments on the color samples are implemented, we produce the counter sample and hand the confirmed colors over to you. You use this counter sample to make an SMS and give it to sales and buyers for pitching.

The SMS is about market reaction. Buyers can touch the fabric, see the color, and judge against the garment whether this style is worth promoting. A color that passes in the lab only finds out at this step whether customers will buy it.

If the pitching response is good, there is a greater chance an order will come. If the response is average, you can still adjust the color, quantity, or style before bulk production starts. This step is testing the market for you, and also screening for the orders that follow.

Once the order comes in, adjust the greige fabric, dye, and produce bulk

After the SMS pitching succeeds and the order is confirmed, we prepare greige fabric according to the order, then dye it and make bulk production.

Greige fabric is prepared according to the confirmed quality, colors are dyed according to the color samples and counter samples you approved, and quantity follows the order. Bulk production uses the quality and colors you have already seen, and delivery time and quantity are also arranged according to the actual order.

You can look at this path like this

| Step | What you need to confirm | What you receive | | --- | --- | --- | | Sample submission | What direction the fabric you want should take | An analysis checked against the original sample | | Quality sample | Whether this fabric can be made to requirements | A quality sample you can confirm | | Trial order | Whether both the color and the garment are viable | Color samples, and meter samples for Proto | | Counter sample | Which color can be taken to sell | Color samples for you to make an SMS | | Bulk production | Order quantity and delivery time | Bulk production dyed according to the order |

The original sample sets the direction, the quality sample settles the fabric, the trial order checks colors and garments, and the counter sample is made into an SMS to test the market. Once the market accepts it, we adjust the greige fabric and dye it, then move into bulk production. Each time you confirm, you are one step closer to fabric that is ready to order.
